Top 4 herbal supplements to relieve seasonal allergy symptoms

WLA-CV_herbal

Did you know some plants can help relieve seasonal allergy symptoms, just like antihistamine medications, but without the side effects?

However, keep in mind that natural antihistamines take a little longer to work. So, give yourself at least two weeks before making any conclusion. Also, always check with your doctor before taking any herbal supplement, especially if you are on medications, pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Here are the top 4 natural antihistamines

  • Quercetin

Quercetin is an antioxidant found in many plants and is abundant in onions, apples, and berries. It’s one of the best all-natural antihistamines.

  • Bromelain

Bromelain is a natural anti-inflammatory found in pineapple, that also acts as a natural antihistamine. It reduces inflammation in the body, including the one caused by seasonal allergies.

Note: Be cautious using quercetin or bromelain if you take blood thinners such as Coumadin, Plavix, or daily Aspirin. It enhances the effectiveness of these drugs, thus increasing your risk of bleeding. In this case, it might be better to consider other options.

  • Stinging nettle leaf

Stinging nettle leaf (not the root) has been shown to have effective antihistamine action by making histamine receptors less sensitive. You can find nettle leaf in capsules or tea; any of the two will do.

  • Butterbur

Phytochemicals in Butterbur relax swollen nasal membranes and alleviate muscle spasms in the respiratory system, thus reducing cough. It also supports healthy blood flow to the brain and promotes normal neurological function, which may help relieve migraines. Therefore, Butterbur is an excellent option for those who also have migraines with seasonal allergies.

A Combination might be better

Any of the above natural antihistamines might help, but a combination of two or more might be even better. For example, quercetin with Bromelain is common, also Quercetin with Nettle. Other variations are also available.

When I started dealing with seasonal allergies, I had Quercetin with Bromelain on hand, which I have been using successfully, along with Nettle tea. If you do not have any contraindication to Quercetin and Bromelain, I suggest starting with that. The one I use is from Now Foods. Now that I am running out of those supplements, I want to try a combination of Quercetin with Nettle.

Now that I know that my body reacts to oak tree pollen, next year I will be proactive. I will start taking my natural antihistamine at least two weeks before the pollen season, considering it takes some time to see the result. Doing so might help me avoid the misery I went through this year. I think this is a good strategy for anyone who suffers from seasonal allergies.

Finally, know that you can get the supplements mentioned above, along with any supplement from my online dispensary Here

Seasonal allergies suck, but you don’t have to suffer. Pharmaceuticals or natural antihistamines might reduce your symptoms. I hope you find a solution that helps you feel better.
